We are always eager to hear from those who wish to contribute or be a part of the Strawdog family.
This page will let you know our policies on submitting resumes or scripts, how to become a board
member or an intern, and the ways and benefits of donating to the company.
Where to send headshots and resumes
Strawdog holds auditions per production and accepts headshots and resumes throughout the year. It
is very important that we have current contact information. Please notify us any time you change your
telephone number or union status. Actors should send headshots and/or resumes to the attention of:
Casting Director, Michael Caloia
Strawdog Theatre Company
3829 North Broadway
Chicago, IL 60613
Where to send plays
Strawdog is currently not accepting any unsolicited submissions of new plays or
directing proposals for our mainstage shows.
Strawdog Theatre’s internship program offers a rich and challenging experience for qualified college
students and recent college graduates who are preparing for careers in professional theatre. This
program gives interns the opportunity to dive into the world of Chicago’s off-loop theatre scene
through close interaction with Strawdog’s company of artists. The level of responsibility entrusted
to Strawdog interns requires that they be mature, self-reliant, articulate, dynamic and eager to learn
about the different facets of theatre in a very hands-and highly collaborative environment. Intern
applicants should have a basic knowledge of computers.
The Strawdog Intern will work under the supervision of the General Manager. Intern duties will vary
depending on the internship. All internships include administrative duties assigned by the General
Manager. Show-specific internships will have a stronger production focus. This may mean running crew
for a show, assistant stage-managing and/or helping our technical director or production team as
needed. Summer internships will focus more strongly on administrative duties. Most importantly, the
value an individual will reap from this experience will be highly dependent upon his/her motivation
and interest in his/her work. Interns will be expected to work between 10 to 15 hours a week.
A specific schedule will be negotiated between the intern and the general manager. However, please
note that interns should be available to work DURING THE DAY (M-F).
Applications are ongoing unless otherwise noted.
The awarding of academic credit is at the discretion of the intern's college or university.
Upon request, Strawdog will be happy to provide documentation of the intern's activities and
performance.
If you have questions about the application procedure, specific internships, or any other
aspect of Strawdog Theatre's internship program, please contact: Erin Carlson, Strawdog Outreach
